The second half is virtually a one-team show. After 4 minutes, Ibrahimovic passes to Nedved, and the latter’s volley shot is saved by the goalkeeper. The only attack from Lecce takes place on 21’ minutes with Babù’s left-footed drive, pushed by Buffon over the crossbar. On 24’ minutes, following Del Piero’s free kick, Nedved tries to head the ball in but Benussi saves. On 25’ minutes, Nedved puts the ball in from the left, Mutu tries a shot on the run but it ends out. Three minutes later, on Mutu’s corner, Kovac’s header ends high over the crossbar. On 29’ minutes a good pass between Ibrahimovic and Del Piero but the Captain’s finish is out. On 36’ minutes, Ibrahimovic, surrounded by four opponents, aims at goal but the ball is deflected out for a corner by a defender. The final result is enriched by a penalty converted by Del Piero on 44’ minutes, assigned by the referee after Nedved’s being brought down in the penalty area (3-1).
