Arsenal were handed a plum tie in Friday's Champions League quarter final draw in Paris when they were matched with Serie champions Juventus. The other three matches drawn in the French capital were Lyon against Milan, Benfica versus Barcelona and Inter or Ajax against Villarreal.
Arsenal's tie with Juventus will see a return to Highbury for Patrick Vieira, who left north London for Turin in the summer.
Arsenal chairman David Dein was happy with the draw, whilst remaining wary of his club's opponents.
"We know it won't be easy," he said. "We'll be there to give them a hard game. And we'll be there to beat them.
"Vieira will be very welcome when he returns to Highbury. He was a marvellous player for us and a marvellous captain. I just hope he'll be on the losing side.
Arsenal's young side excelled in their last sixteen tie against Real Madrid, winning in the Bernabeu and going through 1-0 over both legs.
"We had two exceptional games against Real Madrid and we hope to repeat them. We've got a young team emerging with a combination of young and experienced players."
The draw did not go entirely to plan, as the presenter for the day fainted twice and eventually had to be removed by medical staff, as the importance of the ceremony got the better of her.
